Florianopolis, o "Floripa"
Um dia tipica na Floripa
Deemed the "New Ibiza" by many, Floranopolis is the party hub, and capital, of Santa Catarina. Life is always a party in "Floripa," and it's common to spend time drinking and dancing to muisc at parties at beach clubs and bars. The celebratory lifestyle of those that live in Santa Catarina is a lot of the reason that many Brazlians and international tourists come to vacation in Floranopolis.
The music scene in SC revolves mostly around Brazilian Popular Music and House music, among other popular electronic music genres. During the summer season, November to March, it's common to have big club parties every weekend. Sometimes during events like Carnaval, there will be parties like this every day!
Blumenau, Santa Catarina
One city in particular, Blumenau, is a popular city in SC that still holds strong ties to German culture. The influence is reflected in the German-style architecture of many of the city's buildings, as well as in the culture of celebration with the annual Blumenau Oktoberfest in the Fall. This festival is a big deal in Blumenau, and it lasts around three weeks with parades, beer drinking, and indulging in fantastic German cuisine.
Os cenários diferentes de Santa Catarina
One of the most fascinating parts of Santa Catarina's beauty is the various landscapes and environments throughout the small country. Santa Catarina is popular for its beautiful beaches, but inland and away from the coast there are sand dunes, canyons, and snowy mountains during some parts of the year. Santa Catarina boasts a very diverse land for such a small area covered in its territory.
Comidas e bebidas regionales
As a coastal state, Santa Catarina is well-known for its fantastic seafood dishes, including shrimp and oysters. Additionally, due to the multicultural nature of the state, Santa Catarina's gastronomy is diverse and influenced by different cultures throughout the state. As expressed above in the section for Blumenau, there is a heavy German cultural influence in Santa Catarina, and this rings true for popular local dishes as well. Popular dishes include German bratwursts, pretzels, and cuca, a Portuguese term for any type of German dessert cake.
Additionally, beer is incredibly popular in Santa Catarina, as of a lot of Brazil. According to Chris Frome in an article on the "German Impact on Brazilian Industry and Culture," the German settlers in the 1800s are to be given credit toward introducing the practice of beer brewery. Beer consumption is the highest beverage consumption in Brazil. It's very clear that German culture has inspired plenty of cultural delicacies and festivities, as assuredly did other countries' cultures in Santa Catarina.
This place looks beautiful! When you first commented that it was known for parties, etc, I thought of Miami. I would love to go to a concert here! AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteI also thought it was really interesting that German culture is popular here. Oktoberfest is so cool and that there is a celebration in Santa Catarina makes it even cooler!!!
Wow, what a fantastic locale! It was as if they had everything one could want within a pretty small area. I loved the mountain highway and think this would be an excellent place to explore by car. I do wonder what the cost of living is there if it compares to Ibiza. It sure was beautiful though. A place for my bucket list!
ReplyDeleteI thought that Rio would be the main place I wanted to go, but Floranopolis just looks like a blast. The different cultures also around the state are so interesting, I would love to go see all the different cultures in the different areas, as well as the unique architecture.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how diverse it is here. The fact that there is a large German population and that oktoberfest takes place here is very cool--Brasil is sort of the last place you would think would have that. Floranopolis does seem like the "miami" of South America.
ReplyDeleteSince there are Germanic influences, I bet the food is very authentic and delicious.
Santa Catarina looks like so much fun! Even through pictures and video it is so clear how lively and exciting the atmosphere is. It is so interesting how diverse it is there too!
ReplyDeleteSanta Catarina looks like a little Germany! It definitely looks like the best place to go get beer and go party! The views are amazing!
